What a visit to the Snow Monkey Park costs
At the gate
¥800 for an adult, ¥400 for a child aged 6 to 17. The park opens every day of the year with no fixed closing days, 8:30 to 17:00 from April to October and 9:00 to 16:00 from November to March. That is the entire transaction. There is no premium ticket, no fast lane and nothing to upgrade.

- The path along the hot-spring pool where the monkeys sit
- The park’s posted rules, which are worth reading at the gate
What it does not
- The 1.6 km walk in, which no ticket shortens
- Getting to Kanbayashi Onsen from Nagano or Tokyo
- Boots, gloves, crampons and everything else you should have packed
Carry cash
Small operations in these mountains run on cash first, and I would not build a day at 850 m around finding a card reader. Draw what you need before you leave Nagano Station. The same goes for the bus, the vending machines and the shop at the trailhead.
Online tickets from late August 2026
The park has announced an online ticketing system starting in late August 2026, and says advance purchase will be recommended in the busy winter months. I am not going to promise you how it will work before it is running. If you are travelling in winter, look at the park’s official site close to your date and buy ahead if the system is live by then.
Is the Snow Monkey Pass worth it?
Nagaden’s pass is ¥6,800 for an adult and bundles the direct bus from Nagano with park entry. It earns its keep if you are riding that bus both ways in a single day out of Nagano. It does not if you are already staying in Shibu Onsen and walking up, or if you are taking the Dentetsu line to Yudanaka instead. The routes are compared on getting there from Tokyo.
What a self-assembled day actually costs
I am not going to quote you a shinkansen fare. It moves with the service and the seat, and a confident wrong number is worse than no number. The shape of the day is what matters: the shinkansen is the biggest single line if you start in Tokyo, the bus or train out of Nagano is the second, entry is ¥800, and then there is food, and whatever you buy at the last shop because you did not pack it. Two entries most people forget: lunch, because there is nowhere to buy a proper one on the trail, and the cost of a night in Yudanaka or Shibu Onsen if you decide halfway through the day that you do not want to ride three hours back to Tokyo in the dark.

You will not find a figure on this page, because I will not print a price I cannot stand behind on the day you read it.
